"Dressed
To Kill" - Goodguy UK D2K Remix Available to
Download from www.reverbnation.com/stand
Original version on the Dublin band’s much-anticipated 4th album
TRAVEL LIGHT which proved to be a radio hit in Ireland
& the USA. Legendary Club Re-mixer Goodguy heard the track on
radio in London & contacted the band immediately to produce this
stonkin’ version! Since decamping to New York 5 years ago, STAND
has amassed a huge stateside following which saw them on many ‘best
of’ lists including Billboard, Rolling Stone,
New York Times for both their live shows and on Albums. Featuring
the two completely different vocal styles (Alan Doyle & Neil Eurelle)
blend together to make a wall of sound with beautifully melodic results.
New York - November 2008
After months of sonic construction and underground
whispering, Dublin's STAND released their fourth
album proper, “Travel Light” onto the
world last November. What emerged can only be described as their
strongest body of songs to date.
Mr. Walsh wore the producer hat, sifting through
the do's and dont's, letting the songs core breathe, giving a fine
“Slan” (Goodbye) to tiresome layering. The melodies
carry the weight. This album finds Neil and Alan in fine voice.
The venues: Buffalo, Rhinebeck, Manhattan, NYC and
Lexington KY. Work started in a northern blizzard and finished under
a southern sun. A departure from and companion to the 2005 guitar
driven Transmissions, Travel Light has been hailed by critics and
fans on both sides of the sea.
The band has been playing these songs across the
web and in the rock rooms of Dublin and the US Northeast while writing
material for the next recorded effort. After selling out the famed
Bowery Ballroom last spring, the band will return to New York to
test drive new material at The Mercury Lounge on Thursday, December
11th. From there, onward.

The four lads from STAND met and began playing together in southwest
Dublin. After two discs on their indie label produced singles on
Irish radio charts, the band took a trip to Austin's SXSW. They
relocated to New York and spent the past few years playing on the
limitless stages of the eastern U.S. where critics and college audiences
alike took notice.
Their near constant touring has earned them a fiercely loyal fan-base,
developed by penning consistently intelligent, distinctive songs,
and delivering them through a captivating live show. After one appearance
before a massive summer festival crowd, Buffalo News rock critic
Jeff Miers declared them a "a gimmickless band, able to generate
feverish excitement both on the stage and in the studio."
In early 2006, STAND stood still in Buffalo, New York. Stuck in
a February blizzard after a sold out show, the band took refuge
at Chameleon West, home to that town's beloved Goo Goo Dolls, and
commenced the recording of their latest workbook, Travel Light.
Started in a Buffalo blizzard and completed in the late summer sun
of Lexington, Kentucky, this is their most exploratory work to date
and the early reviews are in. After a break in the homeland, the
band returns to New York and will pick up the Travel Light tour
where it last left off. The band played to a sold out room at The
Bowery Ballroom in February '08 and return to the States to do it
all again in mid June '08. Stay tuned. www.standland.com

Features the duelling vocals of Neil & Alan,
STAND's new single “Days Gone” is now
a firm favourite in the bands live set. The smoldering “Sometimes”
is a bonus track not featured on the album & is the first song
penned by guitarist Alan Doyle to be commercially released! Since
decamping to New York 5 years ago, STAND has amassed a huge stateside
following which saw them on many ‘best of’ lists including
Billboard, Rolling Stone, New York Times for both their live shows
and on Albums.
“Travel Light” is a departure from
the guitar based work of "Transmissions",
the band are feverishly proud of the songs recorded here and as
always, are taking them out on the road as the “Stand Van”
barrels on down the highways of America.

Remember Gang Of Four? No? Well you're gonna remember Stand
. The band churns out that type of melodic rock that spans tastes
and tolerances. It's nice when a band can affect you emotionally
as well as physically. Consider yourself lucky to be able to catch
this group from Dublin rock a little joint like Johnny's. The show
you catch in a pub or club will be the same you catch in the arena.

- Buffalo News (New York)
STAND returned home from New York
to play a rare Dublin show in the Whelans on December 29 to preview
their forthcoming album "TRAVEL LIGHT"
which will be released in Ireland Spring 2007.
Last year the band released (America only) the album "Transmissions",
which has so far sold 25,000 copies in the USA. STAND will be playing
new songs featured on the forthcoming album "Travel
Light" never before heard by Irish audiences.
STAND formed on the streets and
schoolyards of Dublin, Ireland in the late 90’s. No want ads,
no third-party introductions, just like-minded musicians with a
shared passion. They spent the first two years together writing
songs and performing continuously in clubs throughout Ireland and
Europe—developing into one of the most talked about bands
on the Irish scene. Their first release “Correspondent”
landed on the charts with two Top Ten songs and garnered sales of
over 20,000 copies sold.
In mid-1999, having built a loyal fan base in their
native Ireland, STAND played a sold-out show to
1200 fans at Vicar Street in Dublin and departed for America shortly
thereafter. This band from the outskirts of Dublin took New York
City, literally, one stage at a time.
[They have] "more energy than a barrel
of monkeys" raved Ken Gorka, owner of the legendary Bitter
End (and the newish Crash Mansion,) when he first saw them play.
The band soon hit the college circuit playing 5 to 6 times a week
to an increasingly fanatical audience. This website has received
over 200,000 hits since its debut in January of 2003.
Between a rigorous and exhausting touring schedule,
they recorded a batch of songs in various ad hoc spaces while sorting
through production options. To whet the appetite of their audience,
a single from one of their past recording was released.
Colm O'Hare of Hot Press
declared the appropriately titled Sleeping On Our Feet
"a great tune...the chugging drone of the dual guitars
or the faintly apocalyptic vocals reminiscent of the great Psychedelic
Furs in their prime."
STAND immediately thereafter went
into exile with proven veteran producer/engineer David Seitz (Jeff
Buckley, Shawn Colvin, John Wesley Harding, Dar Williams) at the
renowned Clubhouse Studio in upstate New York to record the band
latest album Transmissions, currently only available in America

played a sold-out show to 1200 fans at Vicar Street in Dublin and
departed for America shortly thereafter. This band from the outskirts
of Dublin took New York City, literally, one stage at a time.
[They have]
"more energy than a barrel of monkeys" raved Ken Gorka,
owner of the legendary Bitter End (and the newish Crash Mansion,)
when he first saw them play.
The band soon
hit the college circuit playing 5 to 6 times a week to an increasingly
fanatical audience. This website has received over 200,000 hits
since its debut in January of 2003.
Between a rigorous
and exhausting touring schedule, they recorded a batch of songs
in various ad hoc spaces while sorting through production options.
To whet the appetite of their audience, a single from one of their
past recording was released.
Colm O'Hare
of Hot Press declared the appropriately titled Sleeping
On Our Feet "a great tune...the chugging drone of
the dual guitars or the faintly apocalyptic vocals reminiscent of
the great Psychedelic Furs in their prime."
STAND
immediately thereafter went into exile with proven veteran producer/engineer
David Seitz (Jeff Buckley, Shawn Colvin, John Wesley Harding, Dar
Williams) at the renowned Clubhouse Studio in upstate New York to
record the band latest album Transmissions, currently only available
in America or www.standland.com
STAND
will release TRANSMISSIONS in Ireland in the Spring

STAND formed on the streets and schoolyards of Dublin,
Ireland in the late 90’s. No want ads, no third-party introductions,
just like-minded musicians with a shared passion. They
spent the first two years together writing songs and performing
continuously in clubs throughout Ireland and Europe—developing
into one of the most talked about bands on the Irish scene. Their
first release “Correspondent,” landed
on the charts with two Top Ten songs and garnered sales of over
20,000 copies sold.

On
the heals of selling out New York's prestigious Bowery Ballroom not
only once but TWICE!!, Dublin band STAND return to Ireland for a series
of shows around the country including a headline at VICAR STREET in
Dublin on July 16th. The current Album "IN A HAPPY PLACE"
has been in wedged in the Top 10 Indie / Alternative charts in the
USA since it's release in March. Now based in New York, this is a
great opportunity to see one of Ireland's best exports back on home
soil.
STAND formed on the streets and schoolyards of Dublin. No want ads,
no third-party introductions. The band learned their first songs and
spent the next two years rehearsing and performing continuously in
clubs throughout Ireland and Europe. During this period, they began
to compose and develop the deeply melodic songs that would grace their
Pat Donne-produced 1999 independent debut album, "Correspondent".
Two singles from that album appeared on Irish charts, one holding
various Top 10 positions for two weeks in late 1999. Sales of 20,000
copies followed.
The live show, meanwhile, had developed into one of the most talked
about on the Irish scene. "More energy than a barrel of monkeys"
is how legendary New York venue operator Ken Gorka (Bitter End, Crash
Mansion) describes this band onstage.
In mid-1999, having built a loyal fan base in Ireland,
STAND played a sold-out show to 1200 fans at Vicar Street in Dublin
and departed for America shortly thereafter.
This band from the outskirts of Dublin took New
York City, literally, one stage at a time. One early audience member
turned out to be a premier booking agent for the U.S. college market,
and the band quickly found itself getting used to the right hand
side of the road, winning over fans across the Northeastern and
Southeastern United States. The group that played perhaps three
times a month at home now found itself onstage five to six nights
a week, playing to increasingly fanatic audiences. The webpage at
standland.com has received 130,000 since inception in January of
2003.
In early 2003, between exhausting appearance commitments,
the band recorded a batch of songs in various ad hoc spaces while
sorting through production options. To whet the appetite of their
audience, a single recording from the catalogue to come was released.
Colm O'Hare of HotPress declared the appropriately titled Sleeping
On Our Feet "a great tune...the chugging drone of the dual
guitars or the faintly apocalyptic vocals reminiscent of the great
Psychedelic Furs in their prime."
STAND
immediately thereafter went into exile with proven veteran producer/engineer
David Seitz (Jeff Buckley, Shawn Colvin, John Wesley Harding, Dar
Williams) at the world class Clubhouse Studio in upstate New York
and Shelter Island Sound in NYC. After completing two full production
videos for targeted singles, the band spent the first months of
2004 touring their homeland while preparing to release this highly
anticipated album in the United States.

SEE STAND PLAY
WHELANS JULY 4TH / VICAR STREET JULY 19TH!
Track Details: Sleeping
on our feet:- This is a song written last year whilst in the Catskill
Mountains, NY. We rented a house for two months to get out of the city
to write new material. We were pissed off at the pace of NY and all the
travelling. It's kind of a tongue in cheek look at American lifestyles,
about how so many people are unaware of their situation and surroundings.
There is so much more going on than just what's in the US. |
|
| |
Oldstar:-
Again written in the Catskill sessions. A song about being jaded with
showcases and record label jump hoops, when all they seem to do is rehash
old material and try and milk the same fans for more money. This was one
of the songs that didn't make the cut
for the new album.
Overview (Live):-
Originally appeared on the 'Intervals" EP. This is a live version
recorded for Budweisers 'True Music' campaign, along with 11 other tracks
due for release at the end of this month. It will be used in Bud promotional
events and we will have to 'appear' and drink Budweiser and look cool,
which may I say will be very easy!!!!! 'Overview' is about a guy in an
unfortunate situation seeking devine rescue. |
