the Cry Flows" is Seafood's third album, but their first for
Cooking Vinyl. It heralds a broader, braver direction, containing piano,
Hammond and Wurlitzer played by Ed Harcourt, plus pedal steel guitar, synthesisers
and gong. Seafood have always loved melody and dynamic, now they have honed
the intensity that was always there and have made a cohesive album with
each song an illustration making up a bigger story. It promises to be their
richest and most direct sounding album yet, which is best summed up by David
himself: "Previously we hid our songs behind the noise. Now we are
hiding the noise behind the song."
Lyrically (all lyrics will be displayed in the sleeve artwork for the first time) ,David Line has found a new confidence, reflecting the bands weirdest year yet. The result is Seafood's richest and most direct sounding album yet, which is best summed up by David himself: "Previously we hid our songs behind the noise. Now we are hiding the noise behind the songs".
tour re-schedule for April and May
New Single “Good Reason” (FRYCD189) released
“Summer Falls … their best single yet” – Claire Sturgess, XFM
Seafood have announced that they will be releasing a new single, “Good Reason” on Monday 19th April. Taken from their forthcoming album, “As The Cry Flows” the single will be available on CD and as a limited edition 7” single, both previously unreleased tracks, as follows :
CD – Good Reason / The Last Outpost / Soul Up
7” single – Good Reason / Confidence Trick
Short and to the point, “Good Reason” is Seafood’s first vitriolic song of hate, written on the spur of the moment and reflecting the outburst of anger David felt when someone very close to the band broke their trust and let them down. The accompanying video features bizarre footage of the band playing the song under David’s sheets whilst he lies ill in bed recovering from recent surgery.
Seafood’s recently postponed tour has now been re-scheduled. Three additional dates have also been added, and the second London show has been moved from the Bar Academy to the Carling Academy. Tickets already purchased for the shows which were postponed are still valid.
