This week has been a great one for Declan de Barra. He releases the third single "Throw Your Arms Around Me" from his internationally critically aclaimed debut album "Song of a Thousand Birds" and announces his signing with American Indie label Translation Loss Records distributed by Red/Sony North America.

Declan has spent the year building up a solid following across Europe after signing up with the Griot Agency and gaining rave reviews for his debut album. Now he will take his unique voice across the water to The States and Canada with the release of "Song of a Thousand Birds" on CD and Vinyl.

TRANSLATION LOSS RECORDS SIGNS DECLAN DE BARRA

Translation Loss Records is extremely overjoyed to announce the signing of our first overseas artist, Ireland's very ownsinger/songwriter, Declan de Barra. Declan, who has been working as an independent musician since the age of 18, has previously released records and toured the world with his former outfits "Non Intentional Lifeform" and "Clann Zu." His first band "NIL" was released through
Roadrunner Records and "Clann Zu" had a number of successful releases released through the politically charged Canadian label G7 Welcoming Committee, home to writers Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn as well as the highly praised "International Noise Conspiracy."
Song of a Thousand Birds, his Translation Loss Records debut solo record, features some of the best in Irish contemporary musicians including Rónán Ó'Snodaigh, Jape and Turlough from the Chapters. Declan (vocals, electric & acoustic guitar & percussion) moves easily between delicate pop songs and grand orchestrated reflections, bringing to mind many of rock's late greats while maintaining his own fresh and original sound. Expect an early 2007 release.

Irish Album Launch
"Song of a Thousand Birds" is released in Ireland March 31 on Rogue Goat (Distributed by Gael Linn). Declan will be launching the album at Crawdaddy in Dublin on March 25th with the CHOICE MUSIC PRIZE Winner Julie Feeney supporting.
