During every
other blue moon that rises upon the music landscape, an unexpected
act emerges to challenge the direction the industry has mapped out.
In 2007 perhaps that act will be Ireland’s SAVING
J, the Kilkenny-based band that has quietly built
up a steady fan base across the country and is one band certainly
on the rise!
Formed in late 2005 through an uncanny set of coincidences the band
has catapulted onto the Indie scene without hesitation. SAVING J
have at an early stage captured audiences in their home county of
Kilkenny. In addition, the band regularly tour around Ireland with
recent memorable shows in Dublins THE VILLAGE, SUGAR CLUB,
THE BUTTON FACTORY EAMON DORANS, THE VOODOO LOUNGE, THE HUB,
as well as Waterford's THE FORUM, Enniscorthys
THE BAILEY, Carlows THE MUSIC FACTORY,
Kilkennys CLEERES Theatre and WATERGATE
Theatre. The 4 lads are a dedicated hard working bunch of guys who
have worked their backsides off to bring music to the people who
support them. Last year Saving J were
selected by Hot Press to perform at Castle Palooza on 4th August
2007 following a nationwide search of unsigned bands.
Having been
on the road virtually non-stop throughout Ireland during the tail
end of 2006 and into 2007, SAVING J have
honed their craft and have created their own unique take on a pop
& rock sound that’s full of tight-assed riffs and melodic
choruses. Attendance to their live shows are consistently growing
and the band’s prolific song writing output assures the public
that there’s always something new & fresh to hear at a
SAVING J gig!
As for the bands live shows, they are most certainly not floorboard
shufflers and they guarantee to give an energetic 110% performance
at every opportunity they get
The
Voodoo Lounge - Dublin was memorable and to this day the
band have vowed never again to perform at that venue wearing blazers
and white shoes!
SAVING
J recorded their debut single Bus Stop
at JAM Studios in Kells Co. Meath with Martin Quinn and have been
hitting the airwaves with a bang throughout the Spring and Summer
of 2007.
Bus
Stop is playlisted on RTE Radio 1, Phantom
and has been A listed on all stations in the Southeast
such as Beat 102 and other regional radio. Many
2fm jocks have given the single great airplay and
it is hoped to be formally playlisted on 2fm in the next weeks.
Saving
J have been compared to early REM and Green Day on
many occasions but to be honest the band just enjoy what they do
best, that is playing music.
The song "Bus
Stop"spent several weeks at number 1 in the Beat 102-103
charts. Bus Stop has been at number 1 in the First Music Contact
top picks within the Breaking Tunes site since its release. The
video for Bus Stop has been aired regularly on Channel 6 and Citychannel.
So it was worth freezing their asses off on Duncannon strand last
January I guess.
Saving J have appeared on the cult show Balcony TV.com and have
done numerous live radio interviews/ performances to promote their
single.
