It is with pleasure that we announce the return of Dave Couse and The Impossible to the Dublin stage at The Village on Wexford Street, on Saturday 11th November 2006.

This time last year Dave Couse was gearing up for the release of his album ‘The World Should Know’. A year later and Dave Couse is gearing up for the release of his album ‘The World Should Know’. This time the release is in the UK (again through 1969 Records), on the back of what’s been a great year in Ireland for Couse and the album.

Things are looking very positive for Couse, with the single Batman & Robin currently receiving some serious airplay in the UK, including on the BBC Radio shows of Mark Radcliffe and Phil Jupitus. ‘The World Should Know’ hit the shelves in the UK on 6th October and Dave and the band will be headlined the Borderline in London on Saturday 21st October to be followed by other British dates before Christmas.
Having shaken off the albatross of being the former lead singer of a well known Irish band (shhhhh.....A-HOUSE!), he’s now recognized as a solo artist in his own right. It started off with the listeners of Tom Dunne’s Pet Sounds voting Batman & Robin as the song of the week for 8 straight weeks running. Bell X1 invited Dave as their guest at the Olympia and the reviews for the album were generally glowing.
The momentum continued to grow in the New Year when Dave was nominated for Best Irish Album and Best Irish Male at the 2005 Meteor Music Awards. Defeat to U2 was easy enough to swallow, but the recognition was appreciated. A second single Beauty Is was once again A-listed on 2FM and FM104 and the band enjoyed a sell-out return to London in May.

Around that time too Dave’s headline slot on Other Voices was aired on RTE television. The response was good enough to see him voted on the best of the series finale, along with the likes of Rufus Wainright and Duke Special.

Things did slow down over the summer, but only after Dave played to a packed Pet Sounds arena at the Oxegen Festival in July. A reviewer from the English music site roomthirteen.com summed the performance up nicely:
“Couse’s whole show is a great participatory live event, you're really welcomed into it and made a part of it and you leave having been struck by its magnitude and sheer presence. Worth going to see definitely.”

In the summer down-time Dave went to Cork for a spell, where he produced the new album for The Frank & Walters, re-uniting a successful partnership that goes back to their debut e.p.
Come and see what all the fuss is about and celebrate with Dave Couse & the Impossible at the Village on Saturday November 11th.

Hot on the heels of the success of the single 'Batman & Robin' and a double Meteor Music Awards nomination, Dave Couse and the Impossible proudly present the new mix of 'Beauty Is' from the acclaimed new album 'The World Should Know'. An uplifting slice of pop that punches with a fist of social conscience delivered in a velvet glove, hoping to inspire the listener to rise above.

The response to 'The World Should Know' has enabled Couse to have a genuine artistic and commercial revival of late. The lead single 'Batman & Robin' was a true radio hit, enjoying heavy national airplay and also featuring on Mark Radcliffe's BBC Radio 2 play-list in the UK.

On the crest of this wave of recognition, 'The World Should Know' has been nominated for Irish Album Of The Year in the forthcoming Meteor Ireland Music Awards, with Dave also having been nominated for the accolade of Best Irish Male.

Once again, the single will be available in E-P format, backed with a trio of A House songs performed with The Impossible at their rapturously received Whelan's gig in Dublin last November. The live songs included are Small Talk, Twist & Squeeze and I Am Afraid.

THE WORD ON THE STREET:

“It's quite simply a stunning return to form and drips with the kind of caustic lyrics reminiscent of Morrissey at his best. Surely this is the album of the year!” Tom Dunne – Today FM

“Frankly it’s a minor disgrace that Couse is not international rock royalty. It is still perhaps, not too late to remedy this injustice.” Ed Power – The Irish Independent - Nov 2005

“Dave Couse still writes the kind of songs that most of his contemporaries can only dream of emulating.” John Meagher – Day & Night – October 2005

>>> Contains the massive hit single "Batman & Robin" <<<

On October 7th 2005, Couse & the Impossible plan to give you a bigger, brighter and (dare we say it) better new album entitled, The World Should Know. The mid-September single Batman & Robin is a powerful poptastic tale of friendship which is set to dominate the airwaves. It's already been hailed as one of the finest Irish singles in years by Tom Dunne of Today FM and John Meagher of the Irish Independent and the album promises to scale the same heights!

All of this will be backed up with live dates nationwide from September in population centres such as Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Dundalk, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mullingar, Waterford, Wexford amongst others. That's nation-wide enough isn't it? Along the way we'll also be teaming up with our friends Bell X1 and 1969 Records label-mates Pugwash. There will be full media campaign for the single and the album with radio and press advertising. Feature articles and reviews are due in the Hot Press, The Ticket in The Irish Times, Day & Night in The Irish Independent along with most other nation daily periodicals. TV appearances and radio sessions for the coming months are also in the pipeline.

'Brilliant new single there, 'Batman and Robin'! That's Dave Couse, formerly of A House, sounding better than he ever has!!'

Tom Dunne - Pet Sounds - Today FM - 05/09/2005
