Last March Alien Envoy released the single “Cast Adrift”
and quickley became unofficial soundtrack of the recent Irish General
Election. With his latest single "45" we get a glorious
homage to all the great vinyl "45" singles with the “lyrics”
being taken from the classic songs from the era cleverly strung
together; just listen!
Alien Envoy, alter ego of a reclusive twenty something Irish artist
currently based in New York. Often seen guitar slinging around clubs
in the Lower East Side, seeking out board in Alphabet city, sometime
inhabitant of Brooklyn and drinking in every bar in between. Although
currently based in New York, Alien Envoy is just as likely to be
noticed traipsing the streets of Dublin. He has an affinity with
both, as many do, and is a regular of both cities, his heart split
right down the middle, one half attached to the place of his birth,
the other to the place of the birth of his music. It was in New
York that Envoy found his voice, taking Irish societal trends and
identity as his source of inspiration and weaving in the creative
vibes of artistic NYC. On the verge of something great, there's
a tension here that can only be attributed to the split personality
of a soul stretched across 3000 miles of Atlantic, both at home
and abroad in both places, physically, musically, emotionally.

ON HOW TO GET YOUR FACE IN ALIEN ENVOY'S VIDEO FOR "45"
A message from Alien Envoy ...
Hey folks,
I'm doing a
video and God knows I want you to be in it.
You might notice my latest tune is made up of lyrics - lyrics from
faaaamous songs.
Well, I'm looking for intrepid video-tastic people to help me put
together a sweet video for the single.
I'm giving anyone the opportunity to be in the video - by just miming
along to the track, in the spirit of one of the original singers
of one of the lines.
When your video gets selected, your name will go down in history,
here on my MySpace page and again on www.alienenvoy.com when it
goes fully live. You'll also receive a limited edition vinyl version
of the single.
If you
want to enter, I need the following:
1.
Listen to the attached "45" on my MySpace profile and
get used to miming along to it.
2. Choose a look and location that you think best
captures the spirit of the artist you want to be.
3. Film yourself performing 3 takes of the line
of your chosen artist.
4. two takes of the chorus ( live my life by 45
... )
5. c. Two takes of the Bridge ["There's nothing
worth talking about/Nothing I couldn't live without/That can't be
said in 3 minute's flat/of vinyl spinning on a rubber mat"]
6. d. One round of the breakdown section ["Hey
Joe/Louie Louie/Geno/Gloria"]
Alas, as an
impoverished independent artist I can't afford to pay you actual
cash money for your services – but you will receive a name
credit on my Myspace page, a very limited edition vinyl copy of
"45", and my eternal gratitude for your time and generosity.
