Wannadies
to play a rare intimate gig in Dublin's Whelans
THE WANNADIES Following their triumphant appearance in Dublin's Phoenix Park last August supporting Robbie Williams, one of Sweden's most endearing exports returns to Dublin for a gig in Whelans. Truly a rare opportunity to to experience a world class band within the intimate environment. Expect all the favourites, especially "You & Me" which was immortalised in the 90's cinema classic Romeo and Juliet. Also expect a healthy dose from the new critically acclaimed album "Before and After". |

| The
Wannadies A brief resume.. Of (extreme) Northern Swedish stock, The Wannadies formed way back in 1988 based on a common passion for the same bands, be it Iggy, Bowie, the Pixies or the Go Betweens. The mid nineties saw a wave of ecstatic (critical and commercial) acclaim, after which saw the band entangled in what appeared to be a seemingly non ending stream disputes. 'The light at the end of the tunnel" appeared at the dawn of the current millennium with the arrival of the album 'Yeah'... Three years on ... having trodden the well worn path of many of their contemporaries yet surviving to tell the tale, the band are set to release 'Before & After' - their sixth to date. Over eighteen months ago the band returned to the proverbial 'drawing board' and work proceeded on 'Before & After', co-collaborator on previous Wannadies outings Nille Perned toyed with the idea of building a new studio - morphed into a two way technological learning curve with the band (re)educating themselves with new and old (hence album title). Moving away from the production overseen on their previous outings hasn't short changed the listener in any way from the wry take on friendships on the aptly titled 'Piss On You', the understated hook laden opener 'Little By Little', to the hauntingly beautiful introduction on upcoming single 'Disko' (featuring its own New Order-esque bass feel) and almost culminating in the effortlessly gorgeous 'Come With Me (Till things Get Better) ... we will and they do.
