| On
22nd January, Data Records take a step closer to
their 2nd #1 in 3 months. After ending the year on a high with a
#1 from Fedde Le Grand and Eric Prydz Vs
Floyd Vs Floyd heading in the same direction, they follow
up with a heaving, ursine slab of electro funk from Dutchman Iason
Chronis aka Mason. Over
the past few months the instrumental of ‘Exceeder’
has whipped clubland into a frothing mass of hysteria, becoming
a permanent fixture in the record boxes of everyone from underground
electro noodlers to mainstream spinners. Based around a minimal,
bouncing electro riff it combines the commercial potential of
D. Ramirez’ recent remix of Bodyrox’ ‘Yeah Yeah’
with the dark room, sweat-soaked vibe of Gabriel Ananda.
Originally
signed to Tomcraft’s Great Stuff Recordings in Germany (also
home to David Guetta vs The Egg and Coburn), Data Records via
their friends Boss Records in Liverpool realised the track’s
potential and came up with the ingenious idea of blending the
instrumental’s driving Soundtrack, with the vocal from the
infamous rapstress Princess Superstar’s ‘Perfect’.
