1969 Records are delighted to announce the release on October 3rd of "LIR Live" - the first official live album from Lir, one of Ireland's great rock bands.

Lir celebrate the release of this phenomenal record with a gig in Whelan's, Dublin on Saturday October 4 2008. Support on the night will be from Lir friends (and fans), Pugwash.

Further dates will be added in due course.

Dublin band LIR's reputation as a legendary live act was built through gigs in the capital that became unmissable for many. In particular, the bands concerts at Whelans became momentous occasions. Following the release of their debut album 'Magico Magico' and the hit single 'In a Day', LIR signed to US label 'WAR' and based themselves in the States for a number of years, touring North America relentlessly with 'Magico' and the follow-up album 'Nest' to rave reviews across the country. Settling back in Ireland once again, LIR scored another hit single 'There are more things', the theme tune to the Irish feature film 'I went down'.

In recent years, the band members have pursued other projects but have always reconvened for a LIR fix on an annual basis. Now, finally, the band delivers their 3rd album. The idea grew from the feedback of fans at gigs and from bootlegs of concerts that an official live album release would fully portray the band in all their glory. And how true it is. Recorded over two nights at Vicar St. and Whelans, LIR deliver a 17 track set list that captures the spirit of the shows that made their name. The album titled 'LIR LIVE', showcases the bands signature tunes from their earliest days, through to their time in the states and most importantly to previously unreleased material that is sure to attract new and old fans alike.

Irish filmmaker, Shimmy Marcus (Headrush) is currently preparing a full length documentary feature about the band which will be completed in early spring 2009. As part of the final scenes for the movie, Shimmy will be filming the Whelan's gig and doing interviews with band members, associates of the band and the fans. It's an interesting story as anyone with a familiarity with the band can attest.

The album, "LIR Live", will be available in all good record shops, through the shop on the 1969 Records site, and online.
