“Is This What You Waited For?” is Cry Before Dawn's first single in 23 years and will release in Ireland on April 12th on the legendary Independent Irish label Reekus Records, with whom they've had a long relationship dating back to our pre-CBS/EPIC years in 1986.
“We are really proud of the result. It has taken a huge effort but we think it's been worth it. We're excited and very proud that against the odds and after all these years, we once again have the opportunity to play our music with renewed vigour and passion. We're very happy to be working with independent label Reekus on this release. With echoes of the bands beginnings, it feels right for this re-birth of Cry Before Dawn begin with the release of “Is this What You Waited For” and for what the single represents.” ~ Brendan Wade (Cry Before Dawn).

After almost 18 years apart - the acclaimed Wexford band Cry Before Dawn with two hugely acclaimed multi platinum albums to their credit - succumbed to fan pressure to reform for a summer tour in 2011. The tour was a massive success, including sold out concerts in Dublin's Vicar Street venue and two nights at Wexford's Opera House, as well as appearances the Electric Picnic and the London Feis festivals, playing alongside Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and other greats.
On the heels of the reunion shows the band released the critically received live album “Live At The Opera House” which was” recorded over the two Wexford Opera House shows in May of that year. “Live At The Opera House” was released independently released by the band and was produced and mixed by guitarist Steve Belton, who will again join Brendan Wade, Pat Hayes and Vinny Doyle on stage for a series of shows throughout 2013. The multi-talented Dara Munnis completes the line-up on keyboards.
1986 - Cry Before Dawn released their first single “Follow Me “with Dawn Records, a song which landed them a deal with international label CBS. The highly acclaimed debut album “Crimes of Conscience” spawned 3 hit records in Ireland: the trad tinged “Gone Forever,” the gutsy “The Seed that's Been Sown” and the anthemic “The Girl in The Ghetto”. These instant classics paved the way for the second album, “Witness for the World”, which in turn produced three major hits for the band: the politically informed “Witness for the World”, the Dylanesque “Last of the Sun “and the beautiful melancholy of “No Living Without You”. Produced in Los Angeles the recordings had a different sound, but was still instantly recognisable, laced as it was with Brendan Wade's powerful vocals and intelligent lyrics, Pat Hayes's pounding, insistent drums, Tony Hall's delicate yet razor sharp guitars and Vinnie Doyle's looping, virtuoso bass. Cry Before Dawn have performed on many TV shows including RTE's “The Late Late Show” and “Kenny Live”, as well as a memorable performance of “Witness for the World “in 1989 on the institution that was the BBC's “Wogan”. Cry Before Dawn had sold out tours all over the UK and Ireland on numerous occasions, even selling out the National Stadium Dublin.
